Statewide Forest Resource Planning

Since 1948, New Hampshire's forests have been inventoried and analyzed five times. The most recent work was completed in 1997 under the guidance of the State Forest Advisory Board and in conjunction with the USDA Forest Service.

Based on this inventory work a statewith forest resources plan is prepared about every 10 years and submitted to the Governor and Legislature. The most recent plan, completed in 1996, was two years in the making with the assistance of a 28-member steering committee, the USDA Forest Service, technical assessment groups, and the public. An Interim Status Report of the current plan was completed in April of 2002.
